how to prepare for IAS prelims in 2 months, What to Read in Last Two Months of Prelims, how to prepare for IAS, How to prepare for GS
Hello guys,
Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has started the registration for the Civil Services preliminary examination 2018 on February 7. The last date to submit the application form is March 6 and the prelims will be held on June 3. This year, the commission has invited application to fill 782 vacancies in various government offices/ administrative positions in different All-India Services and central civil services including IAS, IPS, IFS, IRS, and IRTS.

But the problem is, how to manage study in last 2 or 3 months?

It is my personal experience about UPSC CSE prelims that one should have basic understanding, presence of mind and knowledge of certain level to crack this exam.

First of all know the most important factor that you guys are going to attempt the paper called General studies, not General knowledge. if you know the difference between GS and GK, your work is easy.

Let’s know, knowledge means that you know one or more fact like you know 2 facts 1. Salt should be added in flour while cooking chapati and 2. One tablespoon salt should be added in one kg flour while cooking chapati (I do not know real quantity but here consider it as an example) but what is called study is “if more than one tablespoon salt will be added in one kg flour consequently chapati will be salty”. Knowledge is just a database but study called experience or understanding. Hope you understood the difference between knowledge and study.

Now we will talk about study material which should be followed for last two months if one has read once.

  1. Modern History- Bipin Chandra or/and NCERTs + current affairs (if any)
  2. Geography- Student Atlas, New NCERTs + current affairs
  3. Economy- Notes of any coaching institute and only definitions from NCERTs of class 11th and class 12th + current affairs
  4. Polity- D.D. Basu + current affairs
  5. Environment- Only current affairs
  6. Science and Technology-  Only current affairs

Revise as much as possible, practice approx 500 questions of each subject and keep yourself motivated.

I wish your success and hope I wrote something useful. Everyone is free to comment or ask any question.

Thankyou
